The Looney Tunes Video Show

The Looney Tunes Video Show is a series of Looney Tunes VHS releases by Warner Home Video. It was the first release of the Looney Tunes and Merrie Melodies cartoons on VHS, with a set of seven volumes released on North America in November 1982.^[1] It consisted of a wide range of post-August 1948 animated shorts, which Warner Bros. held the distribution rights at the time. It was the only VHS collection to include cartoon shorts from the DePatie–Freleng (1964-1967) and Warner Bros.-Seven Arts (1967-1969) eras.

There were a total of 19 volumes in the series. The first seven tapes were released in both North America and the United Kingdom.^[1] However, an additional twelve volumes were released exclusively in the UK and other PAL countries; volumes 8 to 13 were released on January 1984, while volumes 14 to 19 were August of the same year.^[2]

Behind the scenes

For the initial seven volumes, each video tape features seven cartoons, and opens with a plain, static title card with the 1955-1964 Merrie Melodies opening music playing over it.
For the additional PAL releases, there were ten cartoons per volume.
In terms of picture quality, the prints of the cartoons in each tape appear to be more faded than later VHS releases.
