Behind the scenes

  • The title is a pun of the following things: it is a pun of the phrase 'Jumpin' Juniper!', or based on the Jumping-Jupiter scenario, and taken from a quote of Porky Pig from an earlier short, Golden Yeggs (1950).
  • This cartoon marks the final pairing of Porky Pig and Sylvester in Chuck Jones' Porky and Sylvester horror trilogy in the classic era, which started with Scaredy Cat (1948). And much like its previous cartoon from the previous year, Claws for Alarm (1954), Porky remains completely oblivious of the danger they are in throughout and never realizes it for the entire cartoon.
    • It is also the final short where Porky Pig does not co-star with Daffy Duck. He would make one more cameo appearance without him in Dumb Patrol (1964).
  • The name of 'J. Pluvius, Head Microcosm' is based on Pluvius, or "Jupiter Pluvius," is a sort of nickname for Jupiter, meaning "bringer of rain."
