Detailed summary

Memorable quotes

Porky: T-th-th-the cotton gin was invented by Eli Whitney.
Daffy: You're absolutely correct! And let me remind you again, folks, that you're listening to Truth or AAAAHHH!! Brought to you by the Eagle Hand Laundry. If your eagle's hands are dirty, we'll wash them clean.

Daffy: Don't be a sucker, chum. The next question's a snap.
Audience Member: YOU'LL BE SORRY!
(Daffy takes a rifle and shoots the guy in the audience; he blows the smoke off the gun)

Daffy: Have you got a doctor in the balcony, lady?!

Release

Dates are in order of release:

  • United States: September 2, 1950 in theatres

Behind the scenes

  • The title is a pun on the 1947 film. The Hucksters.
  • The original title was replaced with a new title card when it was reissued in the 195964 season. The original title card may or may not have had Daffy Duck and Porky Pig on it before it was reissued.
  • Daffy's game show is a parody of Truth or Consequences and follows similar rules as the latter. However, instead of using wacky stunts for incorrect answers, the game show uses dangerous scenarios.
  • Daffy Duck saying "all 48 states..." has become outdated due to the U.S. gaining two more states, Alaska and Hawaii, in 1959. Unlike Frigid Hare (1949), which also has a reference to an exact time period, this was never cut on television airings.

Errors

  • When this cartoon was restored for the Max streaming service, the audio pitch is significantly lower. The reason could be that the 4K restored copy of the cartoon is presented in low pitched audio, unlike the previous restored copy presented in its original NTSC audio. The audio pitch of the cartoon has not been as of yet fixed.
  • According to the Looney Tunes: The Ultimate Visual Guide book, Porky is erroneously identified as Elmer Fudd.
