Behind the scenes
- The title is a pun on Santa Claus, specifically the nickname "Santy Claus," as in the Rudolf Ising-directed Merrie Melodies short The Shanty Where Santy Claus Lives (1933).
- The working title was Sea Tweety.
- This is the only Tweety cartoon to be co-written by Arthur Davis.
- Sylvester does the Tarzan yell after he gets attacked by a group of sharks.
- It is evident in this cartoon that Granny is unable to relate to the present fads, such as her telling Tweety she is about to try on a new "bikini bathing suit," which turns out to be a one-piece, Victorian-style bathing suit.
- This is the final cartoon in which Bea Benaderet voices Granny. Beginning with Red Riding Hoodwinked, Granny would be voiced by June Foray.
Legacy
- Some clips of this cartoon would be used in the 1959 Looney Tunes cartoon, Tweet Dreams.
- Granny's bathing suit from this cartoon would resurface in The Sylvester & Tweety Mysteries episodes "B2 or Not B2", "Catch as Catch Cannes", and "The Fountain of Funk."
Critical Reception
The cartoon was nominated for the 27th Academy Awards for "Best Short Subject (Cartoon)", but lost to the UPA Mr. Magoo short, When Magoo Flew.
