Warner Bros. Pictures is an American film production and distribution company, and a subsidiary of the Warner Bros. Motion Picture division of Warner Bros. Entertainment. The studio is a major producer of live-action feature films under the Motion Picture Group unit, and is based at the Warner Bros. Studio complex in Burbank, California. It was founded in 1923 by four brothers, Harry, Sam, Albert, and Jack Warner. It also handles marketing and distribution for films produced and released by other Warner Bros. Labels, including Warner Bros. Pictures Animation, New Line Cinema, DC Studios, and Castle Rock Entertainment, in addition to other third-party producers.
During the Golden Age of American animation, Warner Bros. Pictures served as the distributor of the Looney Tunes and Merrie Melodies theatrical shorts from 1930 to 1969, and has since followed up by distributing feature-length films of the Looney Tunes franchise.
