Release
Dates are in order of release:
- United States: August 1, 1959 in theatres
Behind the scenes
- This short is a reworking of the first two Bugs Bunny shorts with Yosemite Sam, Hare Trigger and Bugs Bunny Rides Again.
- Although comedian Jeff Foxworthy gets credit for the origin of the meme phrase "Hold my beer!", this is the first recorded example of the phrase being used in film. In the opening scene, the phrase–as said by the Native American cowboy Injun Joe–has the same meaning and context as the current meme.
Errors
- One of the lobby cards for this cartoon misspells Woolly with an "e" in the word.
- During the climax where Bugs and Sam are about to duel with locomotives, there appears to be little to no background music playing.
Legacy
- This short would be used in last moments of the first act of The Looney Looney Looney Bugs Bunny Movie, as well as in the television special How Bugs Bunny Won the West.
