Weasel While You Work is the four hundred and thirty-nineth Merrie Melodies theatrical short. It was distributed by Warner Bros. Pictures and The Vitaphone Corporation on September 6, 1958. It was written by Michael Maltese, produced by John W. Burton, and directed by Robert McKimson.

During the cold winter season, Foghorn and Barnyard Dawg have their annual prank war. Meanwhile, a hungry weasel goes on the prowl, prompting Foghorn to trick him into catching Barnyard.

John Seely, who was not much of a music composer, provided stock music for this short.

This is the first theatrcial Warner Bros. short that Seely provided stock music from the Capitol Records Hi-Q library, due to Milt Franklyn's participation in a musicians' strike.

Behind the scenes

  • The title is a pun of the song "Whistle While You Work", from the 1937 Disney feature film Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs.
  • This is second and final Foghorn Leghorn cartoon to have Michael Maltese as the writer,, the other one being Fox-Terror.
  • It is the final appearance of the Weasel in the theatrical shorts.
  • The Weasel is portrayed with brown fur in this cartoon, instead of a pale grey color like he is usually portrayed with.
