Behind the scenes

  • The title is a pun on the "Mexican Hat Dance."
  • A small clip from the 1953 short, Bully for Bugs, is used at the beginning of this cartoon, but with new music and sound effects. The anvil gag is also reused, but done a few times differently in this short.
  • The Acme Rocket Powered Roller Skates gag from the 1952 short, Beep, Beep, is retooled in this short.
  • Sylvester is silent in this short, save for some vocal effects and an instances where he says "Yeehaw!"
  • The white tip on Sylvester's tail, which had been missing since the 1960 short, Mouse and Garden, is restored from this point on until the 1966 short, A Taste of Catnip.
