Cats A-Weigh! is the three hundred and seventy-third Merrie Melodies theatrical short. It was released by Warner Bros. Pictures and The Vitaphone Corporation on November 28, 1953. It was produced by Edward Selzer, written by Tedd Pierce, and directed by Robert McKimson.

Hoping to live a better life at sea rather than on the streets, Sylvester Jr. and his father take on the jobs of mouse catchers on a marines warship. While on duty, Junior chases a mouse into a baby kangaroo cargo hold crate and mistakens Hippety Hopper for a giant mouse.

• The title is a play on the word, castaway and the phrase, "anchors aweigh."
• This would be the last Merrie Melodies cartoon to use the green-yellow color rings sequences until the 1955 short Jumpin' Jupiter.

Legacy

• A small clip of this cartoon, the scene where Sylvester fights Hippety Hopper, would be used in the 1964 Looney Tunes cartoon, Freudy Cat.
