Release

Dates are in order of release:

  • United States: April 13, 1957 in theatres

Behind the scenes

  • The working title for this cartoon was "Hare Deviled", which was a hair/hare pun on "Hair deviled."
  • This was the second Taz cartoon, three years after the first cartoon that debuted him Devil May Hare. Edward Selzer had previously ordered McKimson to cease using the character, feeling that he would be too violent for children and unlikable for parents, but reversed the decision when Jack Warner asked what happened to him.
  • Several elements of this cartoon (specifically the opening scene involving Taz's entrance) were borrowed heavily from Devil May Hare.
  • The Tasmanian She-Devil calls Taz "Claude", while he called her "Rosebud"; the latter is likely a reference to the name used in the 1941 film Citizen Kane.
  • This is the second and final classic appearance of the Tasmanian She-Devil.

Errors

Legacy

  • Most of this cartoon was used in the Thanksgiving TV special Bugs Bunny's Thanksgiving Diet, but with a redubbed scene where Bugs tells Taz that he should not serve rabbit on Thanksgiving, but instead serve "Wild Turkey Surprise".
  • The Tasmanian She-Devil's visual appearance from this cartoon, as well as Bugs' She-Devil disguise, are used in as playable characters in Looney Tunes: World of Mayhem.
