Pluciferous von Mallard Duck, known simply as Plucky Duck, is an anthropomorphic duck and one of the main protagonists of the Tiny Toon Adventures television series. He attends as a student at Acme Looniversity and is the protégé of Daffy Duck. His voice was originated by Joe Alaskey.
Character description
Plucky is a green, young duck with an orange coloring on his beak and legs, and wears a white, sleeveless tank top. As his name suggests, he is very spirited individual driven by ambition, but is highly flawed due to his egotism and greediness. Much like his mentor Daffy, he often engages in schemes that involve gaining some personal gain or popularity, but fails nonetheless due to his self-inflicted egotism, or a result of his guilty conscious getting the best of him. As someone with an unfiltered mind of a child, he is selfish and can get easily frustrated when things do not go to his plannings, and can also be paranoid when he feels threatened. In spite of his negative traits, he does share some goodwill when he doesn't act upon his selfish needs.
Much like Daffy's relationship with Bugs, Plucky shares a rivalry with Buster and Babs Bunny, whom he is constantly put in odds with, but remain friends as a result of their loyalty towards each other. Plucky is also friends with Hamton J. Pig, a mild-mannered kid and Plucky's opposite of which he takes advantage in his schemes, much as Daffy is to Porky Pig. Plucky's love interest is Shirley the Loon.
Like most characters of the series, Plucky lives in Acme Acres and attends Acme Looniversity, where he is mentored by his teacher and idol Daffy Duck. He rarely studies, and does his homework shortly before the end of the school day.
In Tiny Toons Looniversity, Plucky is portrayed as a snobbish person due to his wealthy background. He remains egotistical and has one-sided rivalry towards his roommate Buster, but also knows when to get along and help others. Unlike his appearances in the original series, Plucky instead wears a black t-shirt.

Development
Like the main cast of Tiny Toons, Plucky Duck was conceptualized when producer Tom Reugger contacted Ken Boyer and Alfred Gimeno to create a draft for the series' characters.[1][2] Boyer noted that he had trouble designing the cast due to stipulations, "like all the characters had to have large feet and large heads," but felt that they managed to make it work.[1]
In the development stages of the series, Plucky was originally going to be named "Duck Amuck" (after the theatrical short of the same name) or "Mucky Duck."[1]
