- The title is a play on the 1903 film The Great Train Robbery.
- This is the second and final short to feature Bunny and Claude, following Bunny and Claude (We Rob Carrot Patches). These two cartoons were cut into two parts during production, making the previous short end on an "abrupt cliffhanger" and this one to be its sequel.
- The MPAA certificate number is 21962.
- This is the last Warner Bros. cartoon in the "classic era" to feature Mel Blanc.
- The initials at one of the train's boxcars is P.R.R., which references the Pennsylvania Railroad.
