Colonel Shuffle, also known as Louie Z. Anna, is a minor antagonist in the Looney Tunes animated franchise. His voice was originated by Billy Bletcher.
Character description
Colonel Shuffle is an old-fashioned gentleman based in the Southern United States who shows loyal to his region and feels deeply offended to anything that reminds him of the North. He is also presented as both antagonistic and cunning, and sometimes goes into short bursts of violence when things don't go his way. He frequently uses guns, likes to gamble, and at one point, he proclaims himself to be "the rip-roarin'-est, gold-diggin'-est, sharp-shootin'-est, poker-playin'-est riverboat gambler on the Mississippi." Shuffle is also a banjo player, and sometimes sings Dixieland-style tunes when playing it.
Outside of his negative qualities, Shuffle is shown to be very hospitable person. He speaks in a fluent matter and shows respect to whoever he speaks; so long as he is not provoked in any kind.
In The Sylvester & Tweety Mysteries, he speaks in a Cajun accent and no longer has an animosity to things outside of the South, although he is still portrayed as antagonistic.

History

In Mississippi Hare, Colonel Shuffle appears as a riverboat gambler of the Southern Star, where he makes contact with Bugs Bunny. When Bugs outwits him in a high-stakes game of poker, Shuffle attempts to put him in a gun duel, and a series of comedic mishaps occur afterwards. Bugs continuously thwarts Shuffle until he, while dressing as a Southern belle, stumbles upon another gentleman, who kicks Shuffle out of the boat for "molesting that little flower of the South."
In Dog Gone South, Shuffle owns a plantation house near Platt Falls and lives along with his pet bulldog Belvedere. When Charlie Dog stops by to beg Shuffle for his adoption, Shuffle gets constantly appalled by Charlie's Northern heritage and insists that he already has a dog with him. When Charlie tricks him into kicking Belvedere from his house, Shuffle adopts him until a bearded man comes to pick Charlie up. Charlie leaves Shuffle until the man kicks him out of a train, which was later revealed to be a ploy by Shuffle and Belvedere, with the latter disguising himself as a human.
The Sylvester & Tweety Mysteries
In the episode "The Cat Who Knew Too Much," Shuffle appears as Louie Z. Anna, who used to be Granny's competitor at a canary crooning competition. He was later revealed as a culprit for stealing Tweety in the contest, and under the name of "Mr. Big," he hired gangsters Rocky and Mugsy in his attempted scheme.
