Release

Dates are in order of release:

  • United States: January 23, 1960 in theatres

Behind the scenes

  • The title is a pun on part of Yosemite Sam's self-proclaimed phrase, 'west of the pecos'.
  • The name of one of the missing mice also happens to be one of the animators who worked for Friz Freleng, Manuel Perez, although not an animator for this short. Another name of the missing mice also include famous Spanish painter Pablo Picasso.
  • It is the first cartoon to replace the text involving the "Reg. U.S. Pat. Off." byline below the Looney Tunes or Merrie Melodies logo on the opening titles with the registered trademark symbol. Despite this, the "Reg. U.S. Pat. Off." bylines still appears in the ending titles until the Color Rings were discontinued.
