His parents aren't unnamed in The Looney Tunes Show, at least not his father, who Bugs actually calls Jor-El, meaning his mother would be Lara. JamesIsHere (talk) 13:33, 24 June 2022 (UTC)

Bugs in drag

You know those moments where Bugs Bunny would dress up as a woman to trick one of his foils? Those were funny as heck. But as interesting as the idea of Bugs being genderfluid is, I'm somewhat skeptical of the matter. That is not to say I highly disapprove it (nor is the notion of gender fluidity in general). In fact, I think this is one of those things that is up for interpretation, regadless of where people stand on the topic. But there is a part of me that the source used in the wiki page may not be 100% accurate.

After a deep dive, I came across a thread on Ask MetaFilter surrounding its validity, and found out that the Twitter thread used in the article may have been fabricated and had no citing; just "one of Chuck Jones' books." The conclusion I came into was a quote by Jones during a 1996 radio interview by Mark Thompson and Brian Phelps (M&B) of KLOS, as cited in page 173 of the book Chuck Jones: Conversations (University Press of Mississippi, 2004):

M&B: ...I always wondered whose idea was it to put Bugs in drag the very first time? And did you have any negative connotations from whatever organization?
Chuck Jones: Well, at that time, which was before you guys were even born — it may be difficult for you to imagine a time when you weren't born. And I'm sure the public would agree that it's far better that you're here. But —
M&B: Depending on the day, Chuck.
Chuck Jones: The thing was at that time, if a man dressed up like a woman, there was no transvestite. Nobody even knew the term.
M&B: It was just funny.
Chuck Jones: It was just funny. The man would put on a woman's hat, and they would think that was funny. They wouldn't think that the man was turning into something "inappropriate."
M&B: Little did they know he really liked it.
Chuck Jones: Yeah, he did. We found that out as we went along.

Again, I have no absolute opposition of the idea of Bugs Bunny being a rabbit other than a cisgender male, but I hope I'm not entirely wrong on my research. --QuestJ65 (talk) 06:32, 27 January 2023 (UTC)

Yeah, I thought I was taking something away from SonicExeP's research by removing that, just because I didn't agree with it. Saying that he's genderfluid may just be too much of a bold statement when all is said and done, Bugs is just male and dresses as a woman for laughs. (Although The Looney Tunes Show version bordered that issue). I think the issue I also had was that it wasn't being specifically sourced to Chuck, you had to find that after searching around.
